Class Description
Seventh grade ELA class is designed to increase your child's communication skills through reading, writing, speaking, and the study of the English language. Our goals are as follows: to master different types of writing, to demonstrate the rules of grammar and mechanics, to increase spelling and vocabulary skills and overall, to prepare for the seventh grade STAAR writing test and reading test, and to increase the confidence, skills, critical thinking and academic success as a reader.
Classroom Expectations
Be Prompt Arrive to school and class on time.
Be Prepared Bring all necessary supplies and assignments to class.
Be Polite & Respectful Respect teachers, classmates, and school property.
Be a Participant Be an active learner and stay on task.
Be Positive Always put forth your best effort; don't be afraid to try.
Required materials:
- One 3-subject spiral notebook (any color)
- Yearly supply of notebook paper
- One three-holed, zippered pencil bag
- Writing utensils: black and blue pens (Pencils not allowed except for scantrons)
- Highlighters
- White-out correction tape (NO LIQUID CORRECTION WHITE-OUT or LIQUID PAPER)
- Sticky Notes
- One 1 1/2-inch binder
- Dividers with pockets
